Dr. Jihan Safar lived fifteen years in Kuwait and has conducted extensive fieldwork in Oman and Kuwait which resulted in her dissertation “Marriage and Procreation in Oman and Kuwait: A Study of Generational Change” (2015). Her areas of interest include perceptions and behaviours on marriage, fertility, family, gender role and migration. Presently she is working on two topics concerning Oman: irregular migration; and soaring brideprice (mahr).
